Product Information Management with Visual Configurator - Floorin Vispak
A unified product data platform that serves as the single source of truth. It builds a visual design tool (VISPAK) on top of real-time data, allowing designers to create room visualizations that flow directly into the sales pipeline.

Client brief
The Challenge: No Single Source of Truth
Floorin managed their entire product catalog through Excel spreadsheets. Product specifications, pricing, images, and manufacturer relationships lived in scattered files maintained by different team members.
-
Version control was nonexistent: The “latest” file was whichever one someone had last edited.
-
The web disconnect: Their customer-facing WordPress site had no direct connection to internal product data, requiring manual entry for every listing.
-
The sales gap: Sales teams creating proposals had to manually copy product information, leading to inconsistencies and outdated quotes.
The technical limitations were severe: no API for programmatic access and no connection to their Odoo ERP where sales leads and pricing lived. This fragmentation created data errors and slowed down the sales cycle.
The Solution: Materia PIM software with VISPAK
Core Concept: Create a unified product data platform as the single source of truth, then build a visual design tool on top of it.
Key Technical Components:
-
Centralized Product Catalog (PIM Core): Complete flooring product management with hierarchical categorization (Groups → Subgroups → Categories → Products), multi-language support, and a flexible attribute system.
-
VISPAK Visual Configurator: A digital moodboard tool enabling designers to create “Visual Offerings”—room configurations with flooring products and spatial solutions.
-
Odoo ERP Integration: A bidirectional connection to Odoo CRM. It handles automatic design code assignment to sales leads, twice-daily price synchronization, and partner tracking.
-
Role-Based Access Control: A four-tier permission system (Admin, Manager, Editor, Reader) with namespace isolation for secure B2B collaboration.
-
Digital Asset Management: Cloud-based media library (AWS S3) with automatic thumbnail generation and organized collections.
-
Automated Email Dispatch: SendGrid-powered communications for sharing visual offerings and processing sample requests.
The Results & Impact: From Fragmented Excel to a Unified Platform
Floorin transformed from manual spreadsheet management to a platform that powers both internal operations and customer-facing design tools. Live data now flows seamlessly between PIM, visual proposals, and the sales pipeline.
Organizational Change: Document-Centric to System-Centric
-
Before: Product updates in Excel files.
-
After: Single edit in PIM propagates everywhere.
-
-
Before: Manual proposal creation.
-
After: Designers build visual offerings from live catalog.
-
-
Before: Disconnected pricing.
-
After: Automatic sync with Odoo twice daily.
-
-
Before: No version history.
-
After: Full audit trail on all design changes.
-
Future Plans
The architecture supports expansion into customer self-service portals, additional ERP integrations beyond Odoo, and mobile applications using the ready-made REST/GraphQL APIs.
